Description

Hibernate is a lightweight, open-source framework based on the Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) concept. ORM enables seamless interaction between object-oriented applications written in Java and backend databases such as SQL and other relational systems. Introduced in 2001 by Gavin King and his team at Cirrus Technologies, Hibernate created a modern alternative to EJB2 entity beans. Being open source, it is freely available and widely adopted in application development projects.
The primary purpose of Hibernate is to bridge Java classes with database tables and align Java data types with corresponding DBMS data types. It streamlines database interactions by using built-in libraries to automatically generate and execute SQL statements, eliminating the need for developers to handcraft intricate SQL or PL/SQL queries or to manage result sets manually.
